Crusting Cream Cheese Frosting

Crusting Cream Cheese Icing
 (This Recipe from cake central has been adapted by Lyndsay Z)

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 pound cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste
3 1/2 pounds sifted confectioner’s sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
juice of 1/lemon or 1 tablespoon

Cream butter, shortening, cream cheese and extracts. Gradually add confectioner’s sugar and salt. Beat on low speed until nice and creamy. This is a great base for decorating a smoothly frosted cake or using fondant. I found the recipe on cake central but had to modify it as it was too sweet in its original cast. The lemon juice cut the sweet and the bean paste made up for the extra liquid of the lemon. Enjoy decorating those cakes and of course this is absolutely brilliant for cupcakes.
